Default Russell and new toy....ummm fishing device

I haven't posted in forever. Haven't fished too often. Kind of hit or miss but I have been going when I can. Went a few weeks ago and my Humminbird wouldn't come on, so I broke down and bought a Humminbird Helix 7. Used it Saturday and Monday and I think I'm going to like it. Didn't really want to spend the money but it was a good reason to upgrade! Trolled Saturday and caught a few small crappie, some small bass, 1 keeper crappie, and 3 catfish. Trolled Monday and caught some small crappie, 3 keeper crappie (1 13 in), a few small bass, 2 5lb carp, and 1 catfish. I marked plenty of bait and fish. I got ALOT of short hits. Didn't wear them out by any means but it was nice spending the day on the water.

Sonar pic is where I was trolling and the SI pic was just me looking around.

It sure is fun getting new toys--- I mean tools Good pics on the graft and lots of bait. The crappie had to be close by. Two days of fishing the Hill had to be fun even if the fish wasn't on fire.

I ordered a Helix 2D and GPS for my front deck hookup to I-Pilot. Had a HB385 but it keeps acting up so I ordered the Helix. Has not come in yet. I have a Lowrance touch 7 with the DI and SI but I must admit I have not gotten comfortable with the SI feature. Need to spend more time playing with it.
Good report, looks like the top screen shot was full of fish of some sort.

FishnLine, like you I recently made the switch to a side scanning unit. If you have not seen them already, check out the "Sonar Quizes" on the SI and DI forum. Very helpful in getting up to speed on what the side scanning can reveal.
