Default Labor Day's Over...The Lake Is Now Ours Again!

Finally, the campers and lake enthusiasts will now beging the winterizing processes on their campers and pleasure boats so now we'll get the lake back to ourselves for some fishing. Also, hunting season & football season getting here will take alot more folks away from the lakes and will give the ones that dedicate themselves to crappie fishing alot calmer waters and generally a much better bite. I'll be juggling my free time between deer hunting and fishing but am really looking forward to this time of the year....and NOW IT'S HERE! Only 4 more days until deer season here and cooler weather already on the horizon.

Anybody besides me getting a little bit excited?!?

I stay excited about crappie fishing 365 days out of the year, I don't need the cooler temps to be motivated. At Santee in particular, cooler temps means more activity by fishermen, and down right aggravating when duck season comes in. I'm planning on straying to some other bodies of water to aide in the crappie reduction program I have established.

I'm ready for some fall fishing and deer hunting! I can hardly wait for the first frosty morning trip to Wateree about mid-November!

This weather should have everything muddy for a couple days. I'll take advantage of the nice weather and do a little deer scouting this weekend

Gonna have to get back to the hill and find that "just right" stained water soon. The forecasts now are calling for lows into the mid to upper 50's and highs right at 80. It's not gonna take too much to get 'em going good now IMO.

Water temp at Murray yesterday was 79. It has really come down. We going to try the Shell Crackers tomorrow.

Just wish we had some water to stain ! Gettin ugly here. Heard today all ramps on Wylie were closed. Not official but has been good info before. We may get a sip of rain next week they say. Someone said the water is so shallow that the crappie lay on their side with both eyes on one side like flounder ! Thats some thin water. But hey.... We got rid of most of the water lice and skiers.
