Looking at hitting this lake next weekend. Any advise shared on ramps and which section of lake to concentrate on. Not looking for your honey holes. .. fishing it Friday-Sunday.

Stay out from the shoreline a couple of boat lengths. 12'-20' of water should work. You can't go 30 yards anywhere on the lake without seeing stumps or logs on you depth finder all over the lake. Don't forget the points. they will always hold fish. The edges of the creek channels will have fish on them this time of year too. Parallel them or throw on top of flats and drag off slow reeling into the channel to catch them. Good luck!

Glad I could help. I used to fish Cataract Reservoir 3 to 4 times a month during soft water for almost 20 years before I moved to northern Indiana. It is a good body of water for crappie.

How does Cataract compare to mississinewa or don't you fish it?

I lived in Kokomo from 1990 to 1998 and still fished Cataract most of the time. I did learn some areas of Mississinewa that can produce some quality fish, but a much different type of structure. Mississinewa has a lot of standing timber in relatively deep water. I think lots of people use minnows under a bobber or spider rig this lake. I always used a 1/16 or 3/32 jig with tube or curly tail and cast for them. The last time I fished it several years ago, the winter draw down had already started. I found a lot of nice fish 12" to 14" were in the creek channel along the breaks. I think it is a tougher lake to find the fish, but when you do, it's worth it. Good luck
