I really don't see a difference in the fall. We use monkey milk all year. I've seen some of your baits they are sweet. Looking forward to seeing what you are working on

Last year was the first time on Weiss I got to do some fishing in the middle of the fall. It was right around Thanksgiving, and went to winterize my camper and fish a little. When I arrived the wind was blowing about 20-30 mph and white capping. I could not put my boat in so I decided to float-n-fly a jig and throw around my dock. I could see the top of some of my brush so I targeted the brush I could see. while all this was going on a huge school of fish came up, busting shad like a school of bass! They were eating 3-4" thread fin shad. I would never believed it unless I had seen it myself. I tied on a 1/24th head under a float-n-fly cork and put on a monkey's milk chart. curly tail and targeted my brush that was in 6' of water with the jig set at 18" for the next 2 hours almost every cast was a fish! I have a cleaning board attached to my dock with 10" and 12" marks not one fish under 10" most over 12" and several over 14". That was one of those days you remember for ever. I had a friend show up about 11:00 am after deer hunting and handed him my favorite rod and he proceeded to wack fish while I ran to my out building to get another rod! I was like a school kid filled with excitement! One thing I did notice was opaque colors worked the best! with monkey's milk killing it! Have any of you guys noticed that the fall bait colors change? The creek Im in except the spring is a tannic color, in the fall more a cleaner green. I hope to time it right this fall where I can get my boat in before the water level drops where I can't put in my creek? Later I will share some pic's of the baits I making for the fall!

Fall every year is my favorite time for chasing Crappie. In the Spring a cold front will shut the fish down and push them back deeper with lock jaw. In Fall a cold front has little effect since fish aren't looking to spawn. Fish are looking to put on weight and enjoy the feast before Winter. Cooler water temps will bring both the bait fish and Crappie into the shallows. Maybe the best thing is the jet skis and pleasure boaters are gone, most of the other anglers have quit for the winter or at least until deer season is over and I have many areas all to myself. Though few believe me, catching a couple hundred Crappie in half a day can be almost common.
I can't wait!![]()

Ive seen crappie schooling shad that way a few times the last couple of years. caught a dozen last week that were hanging out 8ft deep under a school of bass that were busting the shad on the surface. every few mins some of the crappie would push bait to the bank right at my feet. I always feel like I'm missing something by targeting the crappie instead of the bass.....color doesn't seem to matter much when they're biting like that.
those maribou's look nice. do you tie those yourself. I often use a tube that is the reverse of that color scheme.
