Wow, I can't imagine a 6mm one ripping its way along. I've been going in a coffee can as I want to see that little sucker. GTT

I had a lady friend who had two children. Then a kidney stone. Said she would take child birth over another stone. Carol Burnett descirbed child birth as trying to pull your lip over the top of your head.

You are so right about the pain! I had one a few years ago. I got up on a Saturday morning and didn't feel good. Within 2 hours I literally thought I was gonna die. Paul was at work 40 miles from home and my Mom lives almost an hour away. I'm still not sure how I managed to get into the truck, but I drove myself to the ER in town. I've never had children, but I was told the same thing about it being the closest thing to childbirth. I haven't had one since, but I have learned to stay hydrated. Dehydration is a major contributor to kidney stones. It's hard to remember to drink sometimes, especially when we're on the water.

You are right. My doctor and my friend at the ER both said its so important to drink plenty of water. I rarely drink water, but I need to make a point of drinking more of it. I'm about sick of it now, though. GTT

The thing that bothers me about the one I had is they told me it was the largest one I could pass without having to go through a process where they blast it to smaller pieces so it will pass. After they pumped Tramadol into my veins I was pain free. Kept waiting for it to move or pass but I never had another tic from it (2008).
So I still don't now if that rascal is down there waiting to show up again or not. They told me I would know when I passed it, but I have yet to feel anything. (which suits me just fine, by the way)

I had a 3mm stone about 3 years ago. They gave me hydrocodones, and told me it would pass. After 12 hours or so it stopped hurting. I don't know if it's still there or not, but I never felt it pass.

Kidney stones are no joke. Had my first when I was 16 and passed one from each kidney at that time. I had them quite often until I cut out about 95% of the tea I drank at the time.
And no wonder they hurt, it's nothing more than a cockleburr!!
    Glad you got through it.
Increasing my water and juice intake has kept me stone free for the most part for about 10 years

I was told to ease off of the.......DrPeppers. The first one flushed out about 20 years ago with plenty of Miller Lite. Passed one about 4 years ago while cranking on the camper tounge jack. I prefer the Miller Lite method more. DP
