Took my Dad this afternoon. Had 9 keepers and he beat me with the largest couple of slabs. He and my grandfathers on both sides instilled the lake water in my veins.

Love the picture of the moon in the sky reflecting off the water while she reels one more in! The perfect ending to a perfect day on the water.

What kind of line are you using? I remember on one video I was watching (I think it was a Duckworth dvd) he stressed using mono and not braid noting when pulling at 2 mph the braid didn't have strech and would tear the mouths of the fish. Just a thought. I love it when my wife comes with me also, she likes to troll because she doesn't have to see he light bites and set the hook, we long lined in Big and West Sandy in the spring and she has been wanting to go back since, we just haven't had the time. Enjoy your reports, hoping to get over there in October.

    Have a great day,
    Ray

I go against the usual grain on my line. I'm using Trilene Big Game Solar 12 pound test. Here on KY and Barkley we don't have the luxury of trolling thermocline areas in open water. I spend most of my time on stump flats and contour breaks, just the type of areas that eat crankbaits by the dozens. I found last year that I was losing 1/2 as many baits on the Big Game 12 as I had been on Mr Crappie 10 pound test. The bigger line also makes it so much easier to get tangles out. I just can't bring myself to go to braid due to the initial cost but mostly due to the fact that I have a large % of feeling loss in my hands from my neck injury that makes it nearly impossible for me to untangle braid foul-ups. It's what works for me and several of my friends have followed my lead on the line.
