I have wanted to fish the basin since I was a kid and finally at the age of 43, myself and a buddy went gave it a try. We fished around the bridge pylons, along the main channel just south of the bridge and out in the stumps between the levee and the launch to the west. We caught about 9 fish total but only had 4 keepers along with 2 keeper bass. Although it was an enjoyable trip, we were hoping to boat a few more fish. Can someone give me some tips on where to fish when I go back? I fish out of my 21' bay boat so I have plenty of room if someone would be willing to show me some techniques for fishing the area. We tried jigs, beetle spins, crank baits and shiners with not very good results.
At home where we fish the river, we find structure & clear water we usually find fish. The basin has so much structure and the water is clear way beyond what I am used to, so it was very difficult to get on fish. We didn't see much on the sonar either.
