Default Lake tillery night stalk in the books thread

What a great turn out for the night stalk on tillery last night. Great time seeing old friends and meeting some new faces. On the way down there was a ufo spotted hovering over Lynn cooks truck. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1439733426.762856.jpg

Once we got there the party had already started because we were running late but not going to mention why because Lynn might read this. Haha.

We had some great food and fellowship at the ramp. Not to mention some of the best potato salad that I saw Fishhound go back for three times.

We started fishing a main lake hump down lake that we marked good fish on in 20 foe but the wind was too tough on ol smokey to fish there. Most of the fish we end up catching was in 30-32 ft of water about 10 ft down. Here's Fishhound showing off a couple.

Both Gretzky and I had a great time, I wound up out of bait and 17 crappie one perch in the live well. The biggest was 12" down from 14 in the cold water live well :-)

Culled a bunch, I found them in 28fow fishing about 14-16 feet down.
Other than the crazy person going flat out down the cove with no lights it was an uneventful evening.
    i'm ready to go again

I was so excited to go fishing I laid a patch on the driveway when I left.
Actually the right front brake was stuck to the drum. I backed up a few feet and it broke loose and worked fine on the hill climb on the way into the ramp

My wife and I had an awesome time at the Night Stalk on Tillery.
Being the new guys going on an adventure with an established group can be quite awkward. This was not the case at all, once we got into the flow of things. I will admit that I was a little worried that people would think and treat us as if we were there to steal their fishing honey holes.
Shortly after we arrived Mac Crappie came by and introduced himself. Next Fishhound showed up and spoke at length about the lake layout and fishing techniques. He also helped us identify the waccamaw perch which we keep catching and thought it was some sort of striper or white bass. Lynn Cook was next to arrive. He brought bulbs for the reflector lights that he was helping me to build. I could not source the bulbs locally, and Lynn had a source on his way to the lake and offered to pick me up a couple. As we were starting to launch the boats Goobler stopped by and started what could possibly be a master’s class in electronics.
Once on the water, Lynn pointed us to an area that several boats had decided to fish. We hung around the ramp area for a bit and tried a few of Gobblers suggestions with the electronics to try and dial them in better. Then off we went. Once in the designated area, we trolled around a little looking at the electronics, and saw for the first time what we thought was going to be fish. We set up for night fishing and for the first time really caught fish with some regularity.
End results for the night. We love the reflector lights. My head is swimming with new information, tips and tricks to try. Saw some boat set-ups that I need to look into more. We kept 30 Crappie and 1 Perch after 5 hours on the water. As a comparison, before last night we had kept a total of 19 Crappie in 8 night trips and around 50 hours on the water trying to do it our way.
Four of our bigger fish for the night

Our big fish for the night, caught by my wife. 13” 1.2 lbs.

We had an AWESOME time and would like to thank everyone for a great night and more information than we can possibly process all at once. If you think there is a lot of information on Crappie.com, then you should carry on a 10 minute conversation with some of these guys. The information will overwhelm you.
