    Default A great week!

I have had a great week of fishing...and also a great week of good medicine. For over 3 years now I have had no energy....yet every physical I had was OK. Finally someone suggested sleep study. Long story short....diagnosed severe obstructive sleep apnea with oxygen levels while sleeping of only 69 percent. Last night was first night in my CPAP machine. I woke this morning as if I had all the energy in the world. I spent the complete day out fishing......I have not been able to do that in over 3 years. First hit my Gill hole and caught over 50 Gills/Crackers in about 4 hours of fishing. Then drove the other 60 miles to Pickwick tailrace and fished for about 2 hours catching over 36 nice white bass in the 14 inch range. Then drove 60 miles back toward home and decided I needed to catch some more Gills...LOL. Spent another 3 hours catching over forty Gills and Crackers. For the Gills today I used two setups....Tict Ice Cube Mebaru rod....Daiwa Luvias 2004H spooled with 1# test NanoFil using a 2# test fluorocarbon leader. The other Gill setup was Yamaga Blanks Blue Current Jig Head Special UL.....Shimano Twin Power C2000HGS spooled with 2# test mono. The white bass were caught using a Major Craft Truzer Ajing TZS-S 6' 5" H UL rod with a Daiwa Certate 2004CH spooled with 4# test mono. I used the Tict rod to cast a Bison Trout Magnet on a 1/64 ounce head and 95 percent of my catch with that setup were Gills. The Yamaga Blanks setup I used a 1/24 ounce jig head with a Bison colored Trout Magnet and that got me down on the bottom to get to the shell crackers. There were also some Gill Crackers in the mix. These are some nice fish...IMHO....but there are larger ones out deeper. My buddy is having a new si sonar and Terrova motor put on his boat and when that is done we are going to get in the deeper part of the lake and hopefully get back to catching some 9 inch fish. Some fish were from the few hours I fished Wednesday.....didn't fish yesterday due to being fitted for the CPAP. I had an absolute ball today. Hopefully next Monday I can start fishing sunup until sundown as I used to do. Life is good!

    Regards

Thanks for the comments. As for my gear I went a little overboard during our past winter....which for us here in middle Tennessee was a rough one. I usually fish 5 days a week all through the year. But due to being stuck in the house for so long I spent that time researching JDM rods.....and for about 3 months I had a bad habit going on....LOL. Pretty much set with rods but want to get a few more reels.

69% is actually high for Severe Obstructive SA, I'm on a Bi-Pap for mine. My Doctor came in the morning after my sleep study, looked me in the eye and said "How are you alive"!!! My levels were down at 27-29 %. I started on the cpap then moved to the Bi-Pap. I have to use the full face mask.

Glad you had the study - it does help but the machines sure aint' cheap!!!!

I've only used it for 2 days. I feel like a new man. My pressure is 20......I'm getting used to it but at first thought I was going to choke....that's a lot of air.

Hey drb check the troutmagnet website for tips on how to use them... I personally hop my rod tip 1 to 3 inches at a time and reel slowly as I'm working it back to the bank. I however am not as successful as alpha so hopefully he will chime in.
