Hey man it's hot as all get out all over here, LOL! Too hot to fish even, but I have been really busy here doing my stuff.

Just an FYI some guy drowned a couple days ago over at Shawnee Shores. He had just moved here from Tenn. What a shame! Oh I case you don't know where that is. It's maybe a mile or so East from me and off to the South side.

You do that! I hear you about the trees and growing grass. Been battling that for several years now. Lots of trees here. Tried sod, the expensive plugs you see in the seed catalogs, spray applications, etc. Slowly working here after 20+ years!

Man, that's a shame about the guy from Shawnee Shores. That's maybe only a quarter of a mile from us. Did it happen in a boat or swimming?

I was wondering maybe the Sheriff might want to take some of the trustees out for a leisurely stroll on the Six Mile bank? The weather being so pretty and cool they might get an inclination to pick up some of that trash.

Looks like you have to cast some sort of Voodoo spell to get the grass to grow. Back where we come from, you can't get it to stop growing. When we cut the grass, four days later it needs to be cut again. We got that industrial strength St. Augustine. Maybe the dirt in Six Mile doesn't hold enough moisture to give the grass a chance? Or maybe it's the lack of sunlight? We are slowly getting rid of some of our trees. You gain the grass, but lose the shade. Can't win ...

Lay out rye grass seed when it gets cool. Once rooted, it helps a lot when spreading the St. Augustine seed when warmer weather comes around.

I fish on the La. side of Toledo, north of the bridge. Someone actually cut down several big cypress trees on an island. I guess he called himself making fishing structure. Surely that is against the law, I wish I knew who to contact about this issue. It infuriates me! Also, thanks for cleaning up the trash.

I'm pretty sure it is illegal to harvest cypress trees must less use them as a fish habitats. I know you have to own the land where the trees are located in order to harvest them and I think still a permit is needed. I know you can't go into the swamp and cut them down. They don't even want you to cut large cypress knees. We have several cypress trees on our property and I would give someone hell if they touched them. They look awesome growing at the edge of the bank and they are already fish habitats. Maybe you should try the Louisiana Dept. of Forestry?

Actually the SRA has a rule that if you want to cut any tree over 3" dia. you must get permission from them to do so if it's on their lease back. The lease back goes a pretty good ways up from the bank. One the grass this heat we have had lately and no rain, you have to use a lot of water to water it. I pull water off the lake for my watering and it cost like $60 a year to the SRA to use the lake water for that.
