Default Need advice for family Destin area fishing trip!

We have 5 kids and 13 grandkids all staying together in Destin for the week of Labor Day. I had hoped to go Tarpon fishing and check that off my bucket list but the area doesn't look good for that. Really the guys in the family are just looking to escape the babies and catch a bunch of fish- don't care about size. So maybe one of you guys can recommend a charter boat captain or bay guide, party boat- whatever fits the bill. And if there IS September Tarpon fishing around please let me know. Thank you for your help. It's nice to be part of a nationwide community sometimes!

Check with Half Hitch Tackle. I am Sure they can recommed something. Have a website and fishing reports from several areas around there. There is always surf fishing and some good pier fishing in the area. Just east of there is Cape San Blas has a large bay with good wade fishing.

Oh and the kids would love snorkleing in that bay. If ya get lucky might just find some scallops. Easiest access to that bay is T H Stone state park.

^^^ this except for the highly advertised evening shark trip out of Pt St Joe. Waste of time and money. Basically a boat ride. Least this time of year. At least when we were therenin early July a few years back.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I will contact these folks and try to make something happen. If someone has personal experience with a successful guide or captain please chime on in!

pensacola fishing forum will get you a bunch of very accurate info. Steer clear of florida fishing forum, too much bs and chest pounding to wade through.

Yep. Pensacola Fishing Forum is the place to go for Destin information.

There are scores of charter boats and head boats based in Destin.

I know the guys want to 'get away' but if a family water trip is in the works you might consider a large pontoon boat for a few leisure hours of fun just west of the Coast Guard station on the bay side. Several miles of clear shallow water for the kids, etc. My grandkids love the pontoon adventure.
