5'er = fifth wheel. The boat has been sitting in my garage for the last two months. I do have plans to get on the water for a day or so before I head back to cooler country.

I was in Colorado and will be going back to northern New Mexico. I lived in New Mexico for a while as a teenager and southern Colorado for several years as a young adult so while I really like Oklahoma I prefer the mountains in July and August. I also don't like Tex-Mex food but love New Mexico green chili dishes.

The Grey Drakes are starting to pop on the Conejos below Platoro Res. Iffin you get a chance to go in the next two weeks, it can be outstanding! And its a meadow stream with very easy access and no wading required. Just walk right off the road and start casting, and when the drakes are coming off from about 11am to 2pm its not hard to catch big fish on dries. The Brown is from the Conejos the cutts are from a hike in lake nearby.

I'm starting out with a week at Columbine campground between Red River and Questa, NM. Haven't decided from there - Maybe Chama (Conejos) or the Salida, Buena Vista, Gunnison (Arkansas + several smaller streams) area or the Creede (Rio Grande) area. The Conejos is a favorite of mine but I stay in Chama so the wife will have something to do while I'm fishing. It's just over the hill in Colorado. The area up near Rio Grande reservoir is another favorite. I hike into the wilderness area to fish. We saw lots of wildlife on our short trip. Elk, deer, bear, antelope, porcupine, beaver and even a snake on the highway at altitude (sorta unusual.) The fishing is actually secondary - we just enjoy the mountains and great weather.

Now...back to still slow (and hot.)

AAAAHHHHH, well aaaahhhhhh, yes it was my backside. The slabs were 13-14" and the LMB were averaging 14-15" that my son was holding. The two stringers contain a normal 4 hour fishing trip for 2 people tube fishing and using plastics. There are some big ole slab bluegills in that lake too. I have to, periodically, scratch an itch and I think Friday is gonna be the day.

IkenI - I know the area of which you speak. Red River's weather is running mid 70's and 40's at night, I think right now.
