Default 3 Fine Days @ Santee

Took an extra day off this week and spent it doing a little fishing and little bit of brush pile setting out. I was successful in doing both. It was smoking hot on all three days but the fish didn't seem to mind, though I was a little uncomfortable at times. Limit catches were made, with a good mix of white and black crappie. Wednesday the jig bite was on fire. Both Thursday and Friday found the edge going to the live bait. Fish were caught in waters from 7 to 25 feet deep, with 20 feet being best for numbers of fish. The better fish came from 12 to 15 feet of water. Water temps were consistent all three days starting at 86 in the morning, rising to 89 during the middle of the day.

In my post I stated a good mix of both black and white crappie were caught. Looking at the cooler pics I posted all you can see are blacks. The reason for this is that I fish the deeper brush early in the day. The deeper brush usually holds many more white crappie. So the whites I kept would be on the bottom of the cooler. Contrary to what most people believe, the shallow brush produces much better during the heat of the day. With the deeper brush better in the mornings.
