Default Enjoying the fruits of our labor.

A group of friends and family gathered at my son's place in the country for visiting and a feast . Besides the normal burgers franks and sausages, I fried up 14 lbs of bluegill fillets. Those always go over well. lol
We have always used cast pots on a turkey fryer. This year I broke in a new-to me- fryer. This piece holds heat very well .By the time I took the picture a lot were gone. lol Name: bluegill fry 001 (Copy).JPG

I had stopped at a yard-tag sale out in the country on the way to fishing. There was a couple old cast pieces, filthy and rusty .The nice lady said 50 cents apiece would be plenty for those junky things. The frying pot is 14" X 8" with 3/8"thick sides. The other is 18 1/2" X 10 3/4" X 3" deep. It took a long time with sander and drill with wire brushes to make them nice enough for seasoning.
These are now at a solid home to be passed down in the family .

I thought I would share another note about the cast pieces. I thought that since they were both unmarked that they were imported stuff. I was later told that there used to be a foundry in Galva, Illinois. and these were likely cast there as a little side job.

Yours looks really smooth inside. That's what makes a good one. Foreign cast are not smooth enough.

That is an awesome find on the fry pots. Looks like Lake Crisco and many Bluegill have found a permanent home.
