Read where someone posted they had't got to the point of eating Garfish.Well i'm here to tell you that's a fine eating fish.Fried,garfish balls,barbecued and it's the only fish you can make a brown grave with.![]()

Well I think it's fine table fare. Some people just don't care for it. Nice pictures by the way.
Cut into steaks (bone-in) about 1 1/2" - 2" thick, stuffed with garlic and seasoning and cooked in a sauce piquant - very tasty
I'm open to trying it. Just need some direction on how to cook it.
I would assume LOTS of onions, peppers, and seasoning to rid of that stink and taste. I would hope folks would never fry that in the house. I'm good with my cast iron fryer for bream and crappie as well as my smoker. Not hurting that bad to resort to that. At least not yet.

They are so difficult to clean.
The large alligator gar steaks look a lot like sword fish steaks. I have cooked it using the same recipes I have used for sword fish and it is just as good. Now gar and pork balls with a red gravy is hard to beat too. I have learned the easiest way to clean is to freeze whole and cut steaks with a sawzall.
