Default New to Si/DI Targeting brush?

I updated my 2003 model with a brand new HB 899. I have watched some tutorials about fine tuning the image and have messed with it enough that I am seeing a great image. My question relates to fishing what you have found. My transducer is mounted on the back of my 16' jon boat. Say I see a fine looking brush pile 60' off to my left, how is the best way to go about heading over to it to fish it since it is already past the boat? Do you toss a buoy and hunt for it after changing to DI or can you freeze the screen and set the brush pile as a waypoint without actually being over it in SI mode?

I know this is probably a simple question but SI/DI is all new to me

Easiest way is soon as you SE it set a waypoint. Then go back and find it. Then get on it and reset a waypoint. Remember it may take a few to find it again because of where ducer is mounted.

AS CRAY SAID,HIT CUSOR TO STOP UNIT THEN TAKE CUSOR AND MOVE IT OVER OBJECT AND MARK WP. FOLLOW WP OVER IT WITH DI AND THROW OUT MARKER,CHANGE OVER TO SI AND U WILL KNOW WHICH SIDE OF MARKER IT IS ON

As cray mentions ... Drop a waypoint on the interesting item ...

This is a good time to have the preset buttons set to views that will actually help you zero in on structure that was marked in the SI view ...

Have 1 of the preset buttons saved as Chart/SI ...
Have 1 of the preset buttons saved as Chart/Sonar ...(Sonar Beam Select menu set to 200kHz/83kHz to utilize the larger 60° 83kHz cone) ...

After repositioning the boat to pass over the newly created waypoint ... be watching the Chart/Sonar view ...

As soon as the brush enters the 2d cone (and shows on the display) ... Toss out a marker buoy ...

Immediately hit the Chart/SI preset button to see which side of the boat you just passed by the structure ...

Now you know which side of the boat the structure is on AND the structure's proximity to the marker buoy ...

Drop another waypoint on the SI view if the previous waypoint is off by a sizable amount ...

Pac, where do you live? Searcy?? I'm thinking that is White County. Better yet, where is one of your more common fishing holes? If our paths are crossing, I'd be happy to show you how to mark it and then get zeroed on it! I'm not a genius with SI, but I can get all in a brush pile.

I'm in Beebe. I really just got back into crappie fishing in the last two years and most of that is during the spawn. I fished bass tournaments for years and have lately rediscovered the fun of crappie / panfish fishing again. CMJ took me out on Conway last year and showed me the fish are there but they sure don't bite for me like they do for him. I usually fish Maumelle during the spawn and of course that is when I can actually catch some. The rest of the year I really struggle. Waters near by are Barnett, Greer's, Henry Gray wma, Wattensaw wma, Conway, DesArc , white river and the AR river. I'd be happy to do a day trip to where ever to learn some tips and tricks.

I'm tied up this coming weekend, but I'm sure we can find some common ground where we can take a look. Let me look around between the 2 of us and see what I can find to fish. Henry Gray is probably closed isn't it? If not, there's a couple of lakes in there that would be perfect.
