Well, I guess I need to find a new hobby. Fished Lake Conway Monday and Wednesday for gills and only caught 14 large enough to keep. Fished from around 10 am to 8 pm both days. Fished shallow, deep, around stumps, around green trees. Mainly in Pierce Creek and 89 bridge areas.
Should they still be shallow bedded now, or moved to deeper water? Help needed - not a clue.

I saw shifty wearing them out yesterday on the lake. They looked to be in pretty shallow water where he was fishing.

thanks for the info, maybe I spent too much time in the 6-9 foot water and not enough on the banks or out a few feet in the 2-3 feet. working to put a plywood mount on the front of my boat for a foot controlled trolling motor and my Gen 2 touch - but will get back out in a week or so. maybe better luck then.

I took a buddy of mine yesterday (he's a green carp fisherman and can't handle the summer grind for crappie on Conway) we kept about 40 or so that were fillet size. Most were close to the bottom in 3.5-4 fow at the base of cypress clumps on redworms and a slip cork. Try to find areas close to the bank where the pads extend to the cypress. Hope this helps and good luck.
He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I know how you feel tried fishing there the last 2 years
Very nice! Thanks for letting we feel a tug on the line during a work break. That made my day!
I really like that drop shot gill fishing! I need to do that soon.

Hey... we were all lousy Conway Fisherman at one point and time. Believe it or not there are still days. I feel like a lousy Conway fisherman. Don't give up and stay the course man.
