    Default hackle question

After reading your input on stabgnids work, is there anyway to show how you tie in the hackle to make it always lay curved down when using the tips of hackle? When I tie the hackle on, its hard for me to keep it with that curved down look. I have gotten to where I will use Vs and not both if you know what I mean.

It's all right there in the sticky post at the top of the page, here is a link and you will see a link to the slide show as well as the 2 videos, one fast tying a jig and one just on how I cut my feathers. These were made just trying out the camera so were never meant to be shown as I wanted to make a better longer one, but just have not yet.

Howdy Homer, You will notice that on each hackle, it has a shiny side and a dull side. If you're tying in the tip of the hackle first, you can pull a few of the barbs back out of the way and tie down on nothing but the main stem of the feather. Then when you start to wrap your hackle on, keep the shiny side of the hackle facing forward. The barbs on your hackle will flare out nicely and keep their slight curve pointing back a bit. Have fun tying Kevin

Go to FAOL it`s got a lot of info on tying. It`s a fly site but a lot of it relates to jigs as well.
