    Default Patoka today

Went to Patoka today, and water looked awesome all the way to Kings Bridge. Beautiful blue green as high as it was. 7.5 ft. and still rising. Long lined for a while,,switched to bandits,,picking up dinks here and there thru the timber very scattered and finally hit a nice school, latching on to a 14 incher then a 12, and a couple of 10's in the same spot on jigs with nibbles injected and then a wall of rain nailed me and drowned me out for the rest of the day. I mean it rain hard too. putting the boat on the trailer and driving from Walls,,,was the only boat to launch there again. The small dock is of no use there in high water so watch for rocks and concrete when you beach your boat plus the 2 pipes holding dock as they are just under the water. Drove to Osborne ramp in the rain,,,docks are up still,,but the walkways to them are under a foot of water or more so usless unless you want to wade kneed deep to tie up..you can still maybe launch 2 boats at a time there in this high water. Drove by Jackson ramp and it looked good to go and so did its dock setup. I was surprised that I didn't find muddy water anywhere and will go back later this week or maybe first of next depending on the weather as tired of getting rained on everywhere I fish. Have a safe 4th.

I launched at 6:30 am in heavy fog that held till about 9:30am. Lake was mirror calm all morning with tons of fish suspended primarily in river channel above Walls. They didn't really hit till about 10ish and at noon,,,heavy rain hit. Everywhere you looked,,,lake was high and in the trees,,,it looked awesome blue green with no mud anywhere. Hope they don't pull it cause when it stabilizes..fish should go crazy everywhere feeding. Next time I go,,will try Painter Creek with bandits in high water along the weed lines all the way to the point of it at main lake. If you ever hit it right, they tear the bandits up when it like this. Its all luck sometimes.

I take back my report on how Patoka was yesterday. Overnite lake went up about 1.5 ft with in some areas, over 4 inches of rain again and more on the way. Now we are back to flood warnings again. What a crazy year for trying to fish the lakes in this state.

Bet you can't get the larger boats under the Hwy 145 bridges by the 4th to the upper parts of the lake.

Just talked with a friend that live on Sawmill road. His neighbor was able to get his pleasure boat under 145 by lowering his top. That was before this last rain.
Saw a few hours clearing yesterday and hit Lickfork ramp. My best catch was a three pound drum.
They moved the main ramp docks so you do not have to get wet, this was still true yesterday.

Yeah I ducked to get under 145 Saturday maybe didn't have too but didn't want my bald head skinned up. I also saw Sunday what looked like a capsized boat off that shallow point near the beach.
