    Default Chick Lake 6/23/15

Yes...I did fish in this heat. But only from 7-10 AM. Water temp was 87.5 and I caught 14 crappie to 12.5" (most were north of 10"), 4 WP to 9.5" and 2 LMB to 3 lbs. Most were caught on minnows in 8-10 FOW with the bobber stop at 5'. Others were caught on a 1/24th Oz. red sickle jig head and a BGBS blue ice jig...reeled very slowly. No wind, and plenty of gar rolling around and lots of ospreys overhead. Pretty morning. Fish were caught on brush piles, duck blinds and cypress knees. I kept 6 for some fish tacos.

Nice catch, going in the morning, should be cooler. Were you trolling or casting?

I guess you could say both. I had the minnows on 9' poles (2 of them) in holders and I just bump my trolling motor in and out of gear as I move around the structure I'm fishing. Obviously, much easier to maneuver with little wind and then I cast my jig on a 6' UL rod all the while. But, I'm not trolling in the sense that you guys probably do.

Nice. But I would appreciate it if you would stay off my debris field.

I wish you would clean it up a little bit, your debris field ate some of my jigs.

Very nice looking fish. I was thinking about going up there. Where did you launch at?

Ed Allen's- there are two ramps...Ed Allen's and Eagles Landing. I use both, but probably Ed Allen's more.
