Dr Phil and I beat the heat again this AM on Chickamauga lake. We were launched and fishing by 6:30. There was a good feeding period according to the solunar tables that ran from 6:30 til 7:30. We started catching fish off docks to begin with. By 8:00 AM, we had 18 keepers in the livewell. Then for the next 2 hours, it was like pulling teeth to get a bite. We only landed 8 more in two hours before we decided that the heat was plenty for us and so we headed for the rampo at 10:00.
We scanned off shore structures, but didn't find any fish that were willing to bite, so we went back to docks and stayed with them. We did catch 3 or 4 good keepers on vertical structure. Blue Ghost in 1/16 oz was the best color and size. I did catch a few good crappie on 3/32 oz jigs with Penny Back 3" Slab slayers on them. It is a good bait for bigger crappie. The fish were deep under deep water docks today. We did check shallow docks as well, but didn't see very many on the graph.![]()
