It's on a 2001 Mercury 90HP 2 stroke. While cleaning the boat yesterday I accidently unplugged it from somewhere. 2 wires with one obviously a ground. Not sure where the other one should go. Took the cowling off and it wasn't obvious anyhow. Not even sure if it went into the boat rear compartment or into the cowling. Gonna take a closer look when time allows. Sure appreciate any guidance.....

I'm like WF, looks to be a sender for trim/ tilt gauge. Turn on key and run it up and down see if gage works. Look on main harness from motor going into boat.

Boat doesn't have a trim tilt gauge. I've found where it may have come unplugged but not positive. Never have had a minutes worth of trouble from this motor. Don't want to plug it in the wrong place and burn something up. Wish I had looked at more closely when I was cleaning the boat up, but didn't have reason to then.
maybe the motor has trim gauge but was never plugged in in the first place?? If you can't figure it out go to a boat repair shop with pics and ask questions.

Sure looks like it goes to the tilt/ trim

Maybe was unplugged already if you don't have tilt and trim gauge and just worked loose from where ever it was stuck.

"D" that's what I think happened also. Sadly, I haven't been back on the water yet to try things out. Hopefully this weekend.
