Default Cranking Fest 6/11/15

Hit the water today running with my wife, son, and cousin who is out of school for his summer break for a cranking fest! Caught the first fish before all the poles were out in the water. Was pushing 2, long linning 6, and had 2 on planer boards. Went over a brushtop and had 3 fish on at the same time. Got them all in and was taking a pik and bam another one struck, and then 10 seconds later 2 more struck! We didnt land them all but our hearts were racing! My wife who was reading her book quickly free'd up her hands and went straight to work. I went on trolling a ways and didnt have any more luck so i circled bak over the brushpiles i had marked that caught the fish and recorded that track this time on the Ulterra. Once again.... Wen we got over the piles BAM! These tops were loaded with crappie, so.... I made the decision that it was taking too much time making wide swings to get turned around and back over the brushtops so we would put up the cranks and break out the jig poles. That was a poor decision, I wasted the rest of our allotted fishing time trying to jig em out of the deep brush. Lesson learned, do not change what is working! Color didnt seem to matter. We were catching on all poles. 1.8-2.1mph using bandit 300's and a couple other brands of cranks. We never caught a small fish nor a huge one. They were all 12 inches but below 14inches. Great day! When cranking is hot... Its hard to beat!
