Default Oconee Report: Friday with Grandson/Wednesday with Kowboy

On Friday Grandma and I took our youngest Grandson Tanner on a fishing trip to Lake Oconee. It was Tanners first crappie fishing experience. He did a fine job and his first fish was a 13.5 inch crappie shown in the picture. He caught the fish on a 12 foot rod and kept it from tangling through 8 long lines. Not bad for a seven year old. After an hour and a half of fishing the trolling motor battery died and we had to roll up. The battery was a year old. On Saturday I returned it to Wal Mart and they gave me a replacement at no charge. BTW please ignore the cooler logo. This is not and endorsement. It was given to me by a salesman about 30 years ago. :o

Yesterday, Jim and I fished Oconee from 7:00-2:00. We decided we would make one more trip pushing and pulling jigs before going into the slow trolling/minnow mode. The morning was cloudy and pleasant and the water was 80-81 degrees. We caught fish on an assortment of jigs (john deere, tiny flukes, acid rain, popsicle, blk/chartreuse) There were lots of small fish but we also caught 17 nice fish for the skillet. Good to see Jody and Doug on the water. It sounded like you and your clients were having a great day.

It was great to see you out there, HW! We had a blast and a lot of laughs. My clients scolded me pretty good when you caught those 3 or 4 at once. They were like, Doug, put us on his boat. I told them your guide fees were way to expensive!

LOL. Sorry but I think the ones I caught were stupid.
