    Default That felt good

On occasion we all have an opportunity to help a kid catch fish. I had that opportunity last Sunday and thought I would share with you all.

This young man (12 yr old) and his grandpa across the cove from me was casting some kind of big old rubber gizmo trying to catch a bass. Well the chances of him catching a fish on that were slim to none so you can guess how long that lasted. To my surprise this kid fished for an hour (the kid showed perseverance) before I yelled over at him to see if he wanted to catch some bluegill. He said "yes sir I would". I told him to get in that paddle boat and come on over to my dock. I had been catching some nice gills with a slip bobber set up and was confident I could put him on some nice gills.

I showed him how to put the stopper, bead, bobber, hook and sinker on and we were set. First cast was not so good but the second cast was close enough to where he needed to be. Small, 6 inch gill, perfect. I showed him how to hold the fish and remove the hook. His next few casts produced a couple of cleaned hooks and 2 9 inch gills. His smile was a mile wide. He was a very quick learner, polite and very appreciative.

Darn it boys, that felt good. My bluegill population may be in jeopardy now. hahahaha.
