    Default Dynamic Duo Returns

After another stellar day on Thursday, I was back on the road Friday morning heading towards the Santee. I decided to give my ol'buddy, and crappie Guru Tommy (RootyTooty309) a call to see if he had any plans for the day. After several rings of the phone the old bear finally awoke from his slumber to answer. After the normal greetings, the invitation was presented, and he accepted. I picked him up, and off we went. We decided to make a little run in some choppy water to start. Once we arrived at the first spot, it took all of 30 seconds before the crappie king was hooked up and our first fish of the day was flopping on the bottom of the cooler. We beat around in some fairly rough seas for a couple of hours before heading towards some calmer waters. We were fishing in tandem, he using Jigs, me minnows. Both were producing nicely, with the jigs catching more due to the quickness of which he could get his bait back in the water. It is always a pleasure fishing with someone with which you do not need to show them where to place their bait, how to present the bait, how to swing a fish, and when it's time to move on. When he and I fish together, we are a well oiled machine, working as one. He definitely out fished me, but both of us enjoyed our time together as we don't fish together as much as we once did. We ended the day with a boat load of slab crappie, big smiles, and fond memories. Brush, logs, and grass all were productive, with brush again being best. Jigs colors in blues and whites were best. Brush in waters from 5 to 25 feet were all productive, with the mid range being best.
