    Default The Ulterra is here


    Finally got the Ulterra, it's a beautiful thing.
    Of course indian't come with a few needed things and there wasn't a mention on line about needing a 60 amp Circuit breaker or a cable to attach the GPS to the troller.
    So I'm headed to Bass Pro in the morning to get the needed supplies.
    Can't wait to get it on the water

    $$$ must be nice. Let me know if it's worth me saving money for the next 5 years. Give us a review once you get it out on the water. Just make sure that trolling motor is plugged in before trying that trick they do on the commercial.

    The plan is to have someone on the boat before I try the push off and spot lock it....just in case.

    I've seen a couple of I pilots that aren't connected to a circuit breaker or run with larger wire. I hope you get it right the first time Grady. I'd hate to hear you burnt something up. I would put the circuit breaker where you can trip it easily when charging your battery. Good luck with the new toy. I need to look at getting me one too with my knee's as bad as they are. Sure would help not moving around and falling out of the boat trying to pull the tm up.

    Can't wait to see it in action.

    60 amp was like quadruple the cost of a 50 amp so I went with that when I had my skiff. Same with 6 ga. wire vrs. 8 ga. wire so I used the 8 ga. Never had a problem with either. 'Course that was with a 55# thrust I-pilot too. Good luck with your new "toy".

    I went with the 50 amp breaker also. It won't cause you to burn anything up, it actually will trip quicker if a short occurs. If you are using smaller wire, less is better. I am not sure what size wire is on my "new" project boat. I still have to put the breaker on it.

    I guess rather than say it trips quicker it would be more accurate to say it takes less of an overload to trip it. (50 vs. 60 amps)
    By the way, you want to place the breaker as close to the battery as possible. The breaker is actually protecting the wiring more so than the device.

    Ry I thought of that the 50 blowing before something went wrong. My thinking is if this motor with all the extra features pulls 52 amps I'm out of luck and should have gone with the 60 after all.

    Doughnuts did somebody mention doughnuts?
    I could use a few right now.

    A few more hours an the ulterra should be ready for the water. I need to route all the cables an install the circuit breaker
