Yep. I cleaned several females yesterday with mushy eggs. A couple of them had eggs running down their sides when I pulled them in the boat. Water too warm for a successful spawn now I would think.![]()

I caught a decent mess of crappie this weekend and about half of them still had eggs in them. The water has been up and down all spring and I'm guessing they just didnt spawn. Is anyone else seeing this?
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work..

most of the females will always some eggs in them even after they have spawned , i see them year round with at least small egg sacks, would be my guess that if they havent spawned by now they probably wont this year and will just absorb the eggs or abort them

I've caught several in the past few weeks where the eggs have turned a grayish color and are being absorbed. Not uncommon for sure.
I share the same results as Greg and Kent. They are done with the spawn and are holding non viable eggs that will be absorbed. I think the females absorb these eggs for extra nutrition to survive the stress of the spawn without having to feed as often. That's just my guess tho.

For 50+ years, I've seen vestiges of crappie eggs in some of the fish I caught, any time of year. Sometimes not much, sometimes more, but always there.
I think they are nymphomaniacs.

Same thing that Greg, Kent and BRM says just not as many big words. I feel they are done for the year.
