I shared something on FB that I feel would be fitting here. All should at least watch this IMHO!

Listened to a radio program with the guy who's in charge of maintaining the memorial. He spoke of many things but what stuck in my head was the way young people react when they approach the entrance. Class trips will head that way and be chattering and cutting up, until they begin to descend down into it and a change begins. By the time they are down to where the names are in front of them there is silence, hardly a sound. Though they mostly don't know anyone who's name is there in front of them they are in awe of the memorial and what it stands for. Shows me that even though we sometimes have a hard time understanding and finding common ground with the younger people, they understand what respect is about. I hear many interviews in my time on the road but this one was moving, much more so than any other in recent memories.
I was never in the military, never had the chance to serve. Viet Nam was over and downsizing made me just an average guy. This time of year, Memorial day and Fourth of July remind me of the fallen and the sacrifices given by them and their families. My Thanks and Respect to those who have given their service, and Welcome Home. It isn't enough to repay you all, but it is all I have.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
