One of the few days now that have it comfortable around noon. Good timing!

After a couple of cups of coffee this morning I just couldn't stand it. I loaded up and hit the Bell City Drain Ditch around noon. I met a man fishing from Sweet Lake that asked if I was that guy from Crappie Dot Com.....lol. We talked for a while and he had around 30 in his ice chest. He caught them along the weeds and lilies with a blue and white tube jig with sparkles. He said the bite was good early. He told me he is a lurker on the site. I tried to talk him into joining. I guess we will have to wait and see. I managed to scrape 16. I even caught that little 4 inch crappie again in the same spot. If I catch him again I will name him Trey.....I caught fishing shiners and blue/white triple tails 2 ft deep in 6 to 8 fow off grass beds, lilies and brush piles. The fish were scattered I would pick up one here and on there. I had to let them take it for a few seconds and set the hook keeping the rod tip low to the surface of the water. If not I would lose them. When I got back to the launch I got a surprise when I went to dump my trash. I also included a picture of the tree we saw snap yesterday. All in all it was a great day on the water.

Another good day......When I went out to get the newspaper this morning at 7:30 I knew I should have gone fishing.....man, it was so cool.....just didn't want to fight the Friday traffic......I hate snakes....I killed a copperhead in my driveway beside my truck yesterday.....my cat was 3 feet away stalking it.....somehow he knew it was poisonous and kept his distance but he will catch a garter snake.....what kind of snake is that....
The "King" is coming
This could be the Day....
RETIRED LOUISIANA CRAPPIE HUNTER
Yes God turned the AC down a few degrees last night. Some kind of water snake. I think a Grey Moccasin. It wasn't a viper had round pupils and round jaw. If it was it would of been a dead snake. He didn't bother me and I didn't bother him. I won't kill a good snake. I hope he gets his fill of mice tonight.
Looks like a black rat snake, but I'm no expert! Glad you had a good trip though!
You are right La Fishing Nut. I just looked it up. It is a grey rat snake. It was about 4 or 5 ft long.
nice fish......
Is a chicken snake the same as a gray rat snake ? That's what we call them . Nice mess of fish sauté , looks like you got their number .
Must be. I went to wlf web site and that is what they had named for a snake that looks the same. They didn't have any named a chicken snake. My grandpa called the same snake a grey moccasin.
Great catch. Some nice looking fish in that box. Congratulations!
