Default Monday night crappie on Lay

First off, I just want to thank everyone for all the helpful tips. I'm new to crappie fishing, a Freind got me hooked last fall. I've only been a few times this year with mainly shooting docks, which I'm still trying to perfect that trick. Last time we went was in the morning and the water temp was up to 81' and we didn't have much luck. So being new to crappie fishing and not knowing where to look, I figured I was done crappie fishing until fall. But after reading all of your posts, it motivated me to sinking my own structure so I would have a spot to go to. Yesterday marked two weeks the structure had been in the water. Monday night I took a buddy who had never crappie fished before and I thought we'd put lights over the new structure. I didn't expect much because it was so new but man was I wrong. We caught 40 and kept 26. Do y'all feel the new structure had anything to do with it or just the lights alone would've produced same results. Either way had a great time and my buddy is hooked!

Wish I could tell you! Figuring out Crappie habits is about like understanding Women (IMHO). They are about as unpredictable as the weather. Glad you had great catch!

I think the structure was key to your success. Lights could not have hurt to bring it all together.

Yes it is Jack, a little restless from staying out fishing til 2am but well worth it!
BobD, I'm thinking your right. I had put out 5 small christmas trees and 1-12 ft cedar tree
Wasn't easy handling that tree, but I'm glad I did. Can't wait to drop more trees just as soon as
    I get time.

Yea, I've got a bunch of stuff to put on the bottom now myself. Fish will be on that structure within 15 minutes of it getting to the bottom. Absolutely amazing how quick they get on it, if it's a place they are normally around!
