    Default Old River (Morganza) 5-17

Took my 3 year old son on his first fishing trip with grandpa to Old River this morning. Unfortunately the fish weren't biting well but he had a blast and that's all that matters. Fished the button woods across from the landing mainly for bream and caught 7 within an hour but only 4 were keepers. Had a couple boats closeby pull in a couple sacs but weren't doing good enough to stay put. We moved to The ballpark area and thought we were going to have some luck when we heard some bream popping in the duck grass but caught nothing. Water was clean but just couldn't find them. Hit a raft on the way back that was in about 15 foot of water but not a bite. I think yesterday would have been better. Water seemed to be coming in rather than going out like it was yesterday. We ate some good food at Old River Landing and headed home around 1 after throwing the few keepers back. Maybe next time. Name: image.jpg

Thanks. The water should be right soon. Once the River drops the fish will turn on and we will be back.
