The house was indeed still standing. We live on a country road, and our only neighbors are our relatives to either side of us, so we had people to "keep an eye" out.
My wife says we have the "Kennedy Compound, but Jefferson County style... (which means) we have all of the drinking problems and none of the money". Plenty of family members to make sure there's no partying while mom and dad are gone fishing!
