With Floridas subtropical climate and diverse water systems it brings the most nonresident fisherman of any state in the U.S. Not to mention the retirees who have made Florida there new home. The state has an abundance of species of fish to chase. Whether, you want saltwater or freshwater species. Florida is the premier largemouth fishery in the world. Florida strain bass have been stocked all over the world as far as Japan. Bet those bass are like Dorothy saying there is no place like home. Longing for the Big O or other grass infested bowls. Crappie tend to to get left behind the bass and tremendous saltwater fishing. I love to crappie fish and have always said they are the easiest to prepare? Crappie are not my favorite Florida species to chase, not even second. Not even my favorite freshwater. With my favorite Florida species being Speckled Trout, my favorite freshwater has to be bluegills on light tackle. These aggressive bug eaters just get me fired up. I love to have one hammer my beetle spin on a 5 foot rod or watch a small float sink. I have nightmares about big Gills trying to steal my bait and that cork going under.
With all that said What's your favorite Florida species to chase?

We are so blessed with all the waters to fish and different species. It makes it hard for me to decide where or what to fish for at times. That's why I got a multi species boat. I don't think I will ever be locked to one lake or species. There is something about the chase and challenge of patterning different species. I love exploring new areas seeing the beauty God provides for us. I love the thump of a crappie, the zig zag of a hooked bluegill, the head shake of a Gator trout, the runs of a redfish, the incredible singing of the drag when you hook a nice striper or hybrid. Not to mention chasing a Cobia down, winching a grouper or snapper out of the rocks. There are even Species I have yet to chase in Florida, peacock bass, bonefish, snook and jewfish the size of VW bugs. I almost forgot the oversized minnow of the flats, that I have hooked but never landed, tarpon! Man Florida is God's country. Guys and Gals get off the couch and go enjoy what God has provided for us. Stop making excuses we don't know how long we will have the chance to enjoy it. Jesus said would make them fishers of men! Jesus preached on many boats use your boat and skills to touch someone. You might save a young persons life. Be Safe God bless and don't forget to post. Especially, pictures. We love pictures.
Here is a picture of another species that my partner and I found in 18 inches of water Tuesday afternoon. Chime in if you know what it is.
