Do you guys really go on the lakes on the weekends?
I try and avoid it.
So many boats, waves, ramp issues.
If you go, what is your strategy?
thanks.

Revert back to night fishing when the lakes are taken over by sea doo's and tuber's. It is a little more calmer then. But a few idiot's do come around at night.![]()
If the fish are biting after 11:00 am then stick it out as long as you can and fuss to your self. If they have quit then load up and go home no need to put up with the aggravation if the fish has quit biting. It all depends on how many times a week you can fish and how bad you want to go and what your boat rocking tolerance level is.

I try to avoid weekends. Mow the yard, do the chores. Fix the boat, go shopping for roostertails. Friday is about as bad now as weekends used to be, I got to the Shull Island launch last Friday at 6:15 a.m. and there were only three parking spaces left. Geez!!!
Yes some do not have the option and must fish the weekends. So rather than do like Bubba and Bubby and rip up to a dock and throw three casts and then rip across the lake to another one and throw three casts, I slow down. The fish are still there but most of the time about 11 a.m. they do move out to the ends of points, or along the defined creek structures about mid way of the coves. This is when I will put on a 1/4 ounce jig head to combat the conditions and fish a jig real slow and thorough. Shooting docks is a good deal as I rarely see anyone do this, and all those lures falling down outside the edges are ignored, but put one up under the dock in the shade and something will jump on it. It gets tuff sometimes though and a seat belt has been an discussed option before just to stay in the boat seat. Lol! I guess the best option on a weekend is slow down, fish slow and move out to the ends of points and along the creek structure that goes into most river arms. That is where the fish go when the surf gets high. A bouy marker will help you stay in the correct area to make your casts. The fish will hold on a given structure and not move so I also find them on a brush pile or structure and toss a marker out so I can keep the boat positioned between the tsunami waves.

I think Joe and Don hit the nail on the head. That being said...I dont really mind working weekends and getting my days off during the week.![]()
With no option but the weekends to fish, I hit it like any other time. Fishing pressure will no doubt affect the bite but if you put the time in you can find a nice mess for the ride home. My favorite time to fish is weekday mornings without a doubt. The area I fish is pressured and normally weekend fishing means I'm fishing in someone else's backwash more times than not.
Hooking up every chance I get!
