Default New toy.. Humminbird Helix 5 di gps

My wife bought me a new depth finder for my Bday http://www.humminbird.com/Products/HELIX-5-DI-GPS/
she asked what I wanted and after doing a little research this is the one that I came up with. I didn't want to fork out the extra $150 for the Side imaging unit and I figure I will end up buying an Si unit later and moving this one up front. I haven't installed it yet and was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions on dialing this thing in for ease of use. I am pretty much a novice when it comes to todays technology on fish finders. I didn't get a nav card for it yet mostly because I will mainly fish Eufaula right now and I figured I would use my own memory card to mark custom waypoints

    Thanks

I'll be watching this thread as I have the same unit. Only been on the water twice with it but I'm impressed with it so far. Haven't really got to play with it much yet but I recently moved to Toppers on Gibson so I'll be out frequently soon!

Mine worked great on factory defaults but I played around with it trying different settings for a day or two and got it doing even better. I like it....I have it on the front and a HB 898 si at the console.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
