Default Mylar what size, where to buy best color selection??

I have never tied a jig before, and believe me , I'm older than dirt!

I would like to give it a "Go" and try a few Mylar tube jigs.

Thanks in advance for any help, need size and where to buy, with best color selections.

PS I have watched the Video, was good of the guy to share.

Most of us just buy Mylar chenille, but have seen some use the tubing for some jigs too. I bought what little of the Mylar tubing I have from my wholesale supplier, but I am sure most every fly shop carries it for flies.

As for what size? I guess that will depend on what size jig your tying to make. I am also confused on if you want to just use the Mylar tube to make a tail and tie the rest or just make a jig out of the Mylar tubing?

I am not sure what video your talking about.

I have to add that my Mylar tubing which I have had probably 5 years at least, I have never yet tied a jig with it yet, LOL! Just have not needed to do that, but have seen some use it. Of course I tend to buy some materials and then they sit here for a few years before I get time to mess with what ever it is.

Do you have a picture of what you want to do?

Depending on jig size 1/16th I'd use medium - 1/32nd I'd use fine unless I wanted a bigger body on it. As many colors as you want!!LOL To narrow it down to start look at your regular jigs and determine what colors work good for you and start with those colors in the mylar.

Best place - I usually do a list for a bunch of companies and whoever has the most colors with the cheapest shipping I go that way.

Crazy Angler or Barlows.......mylar tubing med is what I use. You can tie straight to the shank and not even wrap with chennile if you like! Mylar is one of my favorites

Janns Netcraft has it in silver and gold in Fine and Medium, Barlows, Cascade Crest but I don't know if you need a tax ID number to order direct.
