I am about to make some major purchases for fishfinders and trolling motor. Hbird 899 and I want ipilot or link. I have a G3 60 hp 17.5 foot boat. Do I really need 80lb 24 volt unit for this size boat? I Spider rig mostly but I am going to try my hand at cranks soon. Would a terrova 55 12v with two battery fur longer life work ?

80 is the way to go. Got the extra power if you want it.

Pulling you will want it, been down the 55 road with the same size boat you are talking about. Is your outboard a 4 stroke, if so the 55 might be enuff and just use it to steer when pulling.

I pulled cranks with a Yamaha 115 four stroke....I put a trolling plate on it and steered with my TM.....did that for a few years.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Don't really want to use big motor since I fish a lot by myself. I assume the 80 will be strong enough to pull cranks
That being the case the 80 is the way to go. Should pull ALL day long.

Ive got the G3 176 with a 80 terrova on it. It will pull it almost 3 mph if need to. I would never go any smaller
