Default Howdy Fellas! and Taylorsville Lake Question?

Hello everyone, I have followed this site for years now but have never have created an account. Not bc I am just an "internet scouter" but b/c most of you all don't fish the same water as me. I primarily fish Taylorsville bc it is close to home and my time is limited btwn work and family time. My home lake fishes very different form some of the bigger bodies of water you all fish. I wish I lived closer to KY lak though, I am always envious of yalls crappie size and diverse methods as to how you catch them. I do fish Rough River on occasion but 9/10 I go to Taylorsville. Anyways, I just wanted to say hello and I appreciate everyone taking the time to post on this site. I have learned quite a bit about fishing just about following this group. l I am going to do my best to post pics and info after each trip.

I do have a question for the group, primarily Tville lake guys, is there a boat ramp that is accessible right now? It is my understanding that even the state ramp is closed. I usually put in @ Settlers Trace. I haven't been able to get on the lake since Jan and Feb. We caught a few nice winter slabs over the winter but it was slow.

BB10 ... according to the COE Lake Report phone message, Possum Ridge is the only ramp that's currently open. But, at 27ft above Summer Pool and rising ... the water level would be "up in the trees" most everywhere on the lake. (1-502-477-8606) They're also holding the water ... discharge rate is <450cf/sec max today ... probably because of flooding conditions downstream.

I've fished the lake since it opened, back in the early 1980's ... and 30yrs later the Crappie seem to be getting bigger than ever before, that I can remember. They're just a bit harder to pattern, than years ago, probably because the cover they prefer is always changing locations from year to year. And by that I'm primarily talking about downed trees.

There's still plenty of time for the fishing at T-ville to get going, but it's going to take a couple of weeks to get the water back down & stable enough for them to consider spawning. Late April & early May have always been the prime times for me, when fishing for spawning Crappie at T-ville.
You might consider a trip to Cedar Creek Lake, or Barren Reservoir, while you wait for T-ville to settle down. But, of course, a weekday trip would have far less boats to contend with ... especially on the 784 acre Cedar Creek Lake.

Looking forward to some reports & pics from your Taylorsville Lake trips.

Welcome. I'm also fairly new to the site but man everyone is extra friendly, knowledgable , and generously open with info. I see you have found the thread I created for tville. I fish with a partner, Crappiehabits, and it is our home lake as well. Our reports so far have been scarce and less than successful this year. However we have had good fishin in the past there. The fish can be caught there pretty much year round. It's a good lake to fish for a smaller local lake. Any time you see us out there feel free to say hey. 2072 war eagle max 4 camo. And as soon as this water comes down I'll be givin reports every time we fish. Good luck.
