Fished solo all weekend. A lot of pressure on the crappie from the CUSA tourney, out of state and weekend warriors. With the temps in the mid to upper 60's, people were flooding to the shallows.
They just haven't gotten to their shallow haunts yet. Over the course of tbe next several weeks it should be on like donkey Kong!
Ended up with 4 on friday ( no picture ), only fished from 10 to about 3 due to just working off midnights that very day.
Ended up with 16 on saturday and 12 on Sunday day. The bite went completely dead Sunday afternoon for me.
The males are getting all decked out for the big dance! The coming g weeks should provide excellent fishing!! Be safe out there.

Thanks for the report, stuck working short turn around and overtime. In all honestly the last few years the end of April and first of May have been dynamite for me and I don't see it being any different this year.
Hard to say, just thinking back off the top of my head over the past few years I am not remembering any real good days for crappie in that time frame. That doesn't mean that it isn't possible though, just hasn't worked for the way I fish. Could still be good this year with everything being a little behind. Also, someone that is pulling jigs or cranks should see a little better action when the fish are mostly recovering from the spawn than I do. I keep chasing them until they get slow and always have a bluegill/redear rod in the boat once May rolls in. Once the crappie slow down the bluegill/redear bite is normally good. Then once we get to the first of June the crappie normally get pretty cooperative again. IMO June is an often overlooked month for crappie on Kentucky/Barkley, not uncommon to catch a limit of fish.
Thats what I was thinking. If we are late its the full moon that week and the gills should be on beds. Thank You.

Wilber, it was either 2 or 3 years ago we had high water the weekend before Memorial Day and me and my 2 boys were catching crappie in 3 ft. of water!
