Primetime at Tillery
Fished at Tillery Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon. Our best day was Saturday morning by far. It didn't make any sense with a steady wind blowing from the North but I wasn't complaining. We got there at daylight and the action was great right from the start. We were trolling/longlining jigs in about 15 to 18 feet of water. After about 2hrs, the action stopped. We tried casting to the bank for awhile and nothing happening there either. Still marking fish out in the cove, we went back to trolling again and worked further back in the cove to shallower water 10 - 12 ft and found the honey hole. Every pass we made thru there we would pick up 2 or 3 fish. Seemed to do better when we were trolling with the wind rather than against it. I guess our baits appeared to have a more natural presentation. We ended up the morning catching 30 plus or minus, and kept 18 with the biggest just under 14 inches. Water temp was 65-67 degree's. Went back Sunday afternoon, and the bite was off. Still marking fish down the middle of the cove, but alot less than on Saturday. Went back to the bank and started casting again, and picked up a few good keepers. Finished that evening with 10 nice fish.
