Glad to see you got some fish Danny! Friday was good for me as well. Me and neighbor got 32 crappie Friday and one Saturday after that front they just got lock jaw. All our crappie came on 1/32 Oz Roadrunners!

Saturday was lockjaw day. Also super windy. Front definitely shut them down. Talked to friend there today fishing same areas. He caught 6 keepers yesterday, all small. And he only has 3 keepers today, but he did put back a 6-2 today. Next trip(next week I hope) I'm gonna lasso some crappie!! Gotta practice for Reelfoot. And thanks for the nice comments guys, and you too vet.

By deeper I don't mean what your thinking fishervet. I am talking about their holding depth that I fish every year. Usually that is between 6' and 8' of water and they run to the bank and back out. So I perfer fishing their holding spot more than the ones on the bank. Now I am wondering if their holding depth is deeper. A few years ago they dropped the lake 2' in 2 weeks and the crappie had just got on the banks good, but that lake move made the, stay on 9 1/2' of water for the entire spring. That is what I am talking about not that the front did anything even though it did, it has nothing to do what my wondering.

first..let me say....Danny be quiet...if I understand correctly, you are fishing for crappie at the holding depth which is similar to a staging area... so you are fishing for crappie in their pre and post spawn regions in which the fish will be there a lot longer than on their beds.....Thanks for the info. Mr. Skip....and this info. is gold my friends......who needs a honey hole when ya get this? wow.
Pretty much fishervet. Every year since I came back here I have fished pretty much the same depth of water from when ever they come in until May sometime. I fist find out what they are liking for their holding place which I believe they go back and forth to the beds to lay eggs. I am pretty sure the eggs from a female don't all get put in one nest (just my 2 cents on that). Usually I can find that between 6' and 8' of water. Now in 2010 they dropped the water here 2 feet in 2 weeks or about, well the crappie had just hit the banks and that ran them off. Not only that, but my usually depth of around 7' of water didn't have any so I looked out farther and found them in 9 1/2 feet of water and they stayed there all spring. This year not only did the lake over fill, they opened the darn flood gates and that changed the world for me. Now somedays I can troll and do okay, but some times I have to cast to get them. The worst part for me so far is they are not biting all that great, but still hope they do now that the flood gates are closed. My way had just started working before the gates opened. My neighbor caught nice crappie on Thursday and Friday just before the gates opened on Saturday a couple weeks back?? Anyway he was don't pretty good until Saturday and then just a couple crappie for all day. I went with him that Sunday and I caught one crappie and he caught a turtle, LOL! Mother Nature has pitched me a curve this year!
Oh and last 2 days I have fished a little and it's slow, but did find some in 9' of water and yesterday afternoon I only had 8, but 5 of them were 13" or over. Love when I can hit a few White Crappie with that big old mouth! Boat control has also cost me 2 large crappie just because I didn't do what I have to do on big ones! I probably got 10 this morning that are nice, but no big ones like yesterday. All caught trolling.
Yes I take the easy way to fill my freezer, I don't have to cast much, I don't have 6 or 8 rods hanging out the front. I just sit back in my chair and hold the rod in hand and pull them little Roadrunners or even sometimes a Pony head, LOL! Usually I don't have any problame catching all I want and more as I give a lot away to people that either don't fish or what ever.
