So what's the difference in pushing a minnow at .8 and longlining one at .8 from the back of the boat. Not being a smartaleck. I seriously don't know the difference.

    IMHO ...
The amount of added weight used in pushing, in order to keep the line as vertical as possible for depth control. Out the back of the boat you don't have the trolling motor to avoid, and set depth by length of line out.
You "push" out the front of the boat ... you pull or longline troll when rods are out the side of the boat or off the back end.

Pushing that fast will put the baits back towards the boat more defeating the purpose of using longer rods. Unless you use heavier weights. I've used 1 ounce weights pushing but I'm usually fishing deep or in high winds and still not going that fast. Most say if you're going that fast pushing, you should probably just long line.
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!

I have spider rigged (pushed) quite a bit but have never long lined. Would like to try it but I fish flooded watershed resevoirs ( Truman lake Mo. ) etc. and would think I would be hung up all the time unless I fished main lake area.
can you long line in lakes with a lot of structure?

I like tube for long lining. Minnows work very well too. After the spawn I like minnows better but I haven't used them in years. I only long line when I have to I prefer to cast and fill the thump.

You can. Just run short lines and go single jigs. Be prepared to hang up. Try to stick to the channel which will be the cleanest area most often.

I like to pull good sized hair jigs dosed with a shot of Slab Slobber.
