Is it over for this Year ??
Hopefully not. Maybe just break time. I'm sure it ain't easy setting them up and running them. Maybe there's a need for some help and encouragement for next year. This has been kinda weird weather year anyway, at least early on. Renew and refresh for next year and restart them with a vengeance. At least that's what I'm hoping. I'll supply more and better goodies if we do, I promise!
We'll be kicking things off this Fall at Talquin!!!! Get your game face on RR!!!![]()
10 4 Tim , Now that the Wife is up an about again , and the pollen and stuff is out of the air I'm ready !!! RR
Why has the interest in the Florida's Slabfest's dropped off so drastically. When i
first came onboard, pictures and reports showed 35 - 40 people having good time.
Now its hard to get more than 6 -10 to come for all the work put into setting it up.
I most generally cannot attend due to have tournaments on same day in state.
In some respects we are the "fishing capital" of the US and for year round waer, temp
avail and we barely rank in top 10 for posts and new members. Slab shouldn't have
to use some type of bride to get more interest ie: t-****s, tackle etc. Interest &
commraderly of meeting other fishermen, family with same interest in mind should be
a main goal - promoting new members to come and enjoy.
We as tournament fishermen are competitive, but will spend time with anyone who
fishes with us or comes to weigh in, watches and asks questions. We are here to
promote Crappie Fishing in Florida. We like CdC do not charge for a membership,
everything is free except for tournament itself. We have all walks of life competitors
from accounts, retiree's, truckdrivers to Pro-Guides - the will to compete and have
fun while learning new technics is our drive.
Do not be a "lurker", get involved, CDC is a wonderful forum and should be used.
Put out ideas of what & how you want to see things improved.

We took an organization from 16 teams 5 years ago at the Classic to 40 teams
in Dec. 2014.

There have been a couple of "Key" members that have been keeping these event going and I salute them for their time and efforts. Trying to do one of these events every month for 5 or 6 months in a row can be time consuming, stressful and tiring, and especially when the participation decreases it can be dis-heartening. I feel sure that they are not over, but maybe a little more space in between the events and some other volunteers to step up and head take over an event or 2 might spark more participation. I'll be glad to volunteer to help out in any way I can for a Slabtogether at Crescent next January. The FL group I have met over the past 3-4 years are some of the best people I have been associated with and I'd love to see it continue. We have been having very successful events at Talquin for the past 4-5 years, but we just usually do 1 event a year so we really put our all into it. To do one every month would be way too much for me. I know Talquin is a pretty good trip for most of yall, but October 30 will be our annual Get Together there and I hope to see some of yall there.
Have you tried to put a flyer out 2 -3 weeks before event. Many people are not aware
of CdC. and only see flyers in bait stores about bass tournaments etc.
We have put out flyers on windshields at marina 2 weeks b-4 event, also local bait
& tackle shops will post and hand out flyers if you leave them to.
