Default OCONEE AND THE COMING FRONT

I have never fished Oconee, but my son and I are going to camp and fish it this weekend. I was looking at the weather and see we are going to get a chill, especially Saturday night.

What would you try to entice the crappie to bite, both before the front, and after the front?

Dylan is 12 and I sure would like to put him on some fish this weekend.

    Thanks

    Pappy

Well the front has sure had its effect on the fishing. We have managed a few bites, but nothing to brag about. Real choppy water, wind gusts and freezing tonight. O it goes in Georgia.

Should be a better day tomorrow. It took 11.20 pounds with seven crappie to win The Slabmasters Tournament at Oconee today.

Keep us posted on how you do today. At least it should be a bit more comfortable.

back at home now. We didn't get to fish today. I had trolling motor issues. The cable that steers the head, pulled out of the gear rack. The place they crimped the cable into the gear rack split and the cable came out, so I couldn't steer the boat. We caught 3 crappie in the cove back of the Old Salem campground yesterday, but it was brutal trying to keep the speed and direction we wanted with all the wind. I found out the river boat I have catches the wind and makes it tough to control the direction with the shifting wind. Dylan had a great time, but I wish he could have put more fish in the boat. We located lots of crappie, holding at the cove mouth, but we couldn't buy a strike it seemed.
