    Default Some days are better than others!


    This was a good one at Lake Martin. Thursday, went out on an overcast but calm day to find the fish were moving in toward the shallows. Outside trees produced. Everything was biting….long story short, kept 34 nice crappie and a mixture of bass and bream. All fish were caught about 20 inches deep using 1/32 jigs, under a cork, solid gray worked best for me. I brought my 87 year old father in law the next morning, hoping it would be some easy fishing for him but Lk Martin got tough again. Even though the conditions were almost identical, we only caught 6 crappie, 1 bass and a few bream. Many of the crappie were females that had not dropped their eggs yet, their eggs sacks looked atrophied and the fish were big but thin…maybe these big swings in temp. had something to do with it. They definitely looked stressed…Anyhow, here's Thursdays trip…BC...
