    Default Sledd Creek question

Bringing friend down to Kenlake and staying at the park. Never have fished the area around the marina. Sledd creek looks fairly close to ramp and since I don't know the lake I thought that might be a safe run. Is that a good crappie area or should I follow the crowd? Don't want specific spots but just in general info. Buddy hasn't been in a boat for years and will be happy with any kind of catch and we are not there to fill the freezer. Just catch up and enjoy the lake and area.

It's a 13 mile boat ride from Kenlake in Aurora to Sledd Creek Bay... That might as well be 1000 miles if the wind gets up on Ky Lake ...

There's plenty of good bays closer to Kenlake ...

Come out of Kenlake Marina and go south right across the mouth of the bay ...until you drop off into Ledbetter creek ...

Lots of structure within sight of Kenlake marina ...

Ok, that's helps a bunch. We are both old men and just need safe water and a fish now and then to keep us entertained. Thanks

Good fishing in the bay at Kenlake but if the wind is blowing out of the southwest it could be tough loading the boat at the ramp.

Is it possible the OP meant to say Ky Dam State Park rather than Kenlake since he mentioned the proximity to Sledd?

Put in at the back of Sledd. I have been there this year. Plenty of places big bay.

I've put in at KenLake in the morning before, and had the wind come up on me while I was out. I just went around to the marina and tied up, then put the trailer in the water and then fetched the boat. It takes some time, and some walking (I need it), but better THAT than a scratched boat! Now if there are two of you, it's not a problem.

One thing is for sure.....if you go to Sledd Creek, you will surely be following the crowd. It is a popular place this time of year.
