    Default Chickamauga Lake 3-15-15

Fishing again while the fishin' is good. We went back to the same spot we fished the other day. Pattern was still pretty much the same and 1/32 oz. BG Bluegrass Baby Shad in 1-5 feet was the ticket again. Water temperature average of 55 degrees. We put a lot of crappie...yellow bass...3 small bass...1 white bass...1 bream in the boat. Almost all of the crappie were keepers...and all were released. I did a better job of keeping my fish on this time but got out-fished again.

Yellow bass...sometimes confused as a white bass or striped bass. It is distinguished by it's yellow belly and the broken pattern on it's lowermost stripes. It can also mate with the white bass.

We caught 35-40 yesterday with one that was "huge" - for a yellow bass. Often a nuisance for crappie fisherman but very good to eat when they are big enough.

Congrats on picking UTC. That is a long way to drag a boat back and forth. I will pm you my phone number. Call me for more detailed local info. Kingfish

Have seen some big yellows this way also. 2.9 is the state and world record if I am reading it right, and I have seen and caught plenty over 1.5 around here. That record may be broken soon.

Good catch for the day. I get out fished by Lynn all the time.

That's what I'm seeing and reading about the state and world record Dave. I did stumble across this yellow bass taken in a survey net in Wisconsin in '09. It was 16.7 inches and weighed...3 pounds ! What a beast !

Maybe I should start fishing for those things more. I normally move when I get into them. Lynn likes to catch them but she makes me take them off every time. After cutting my hand a few times I say that's it. Gonna have to get her a glove.
