Took jeepyjr and headed to Weiss this past weekend ...... Fri wind was tough but we scratched out a good bag ...... Sat weather was nice and it was a Weiss lake crappie beat down...... Lots of 12 to 14 inchers ........ Jeepyjr caught 2 biggest of weekend at about 2lbs each....... And caught a 50 dollar tagged rodeo fish.... Excellent trip....... Now if this ice would go away I'm ready to fish in Ohio .......

Stayed at Weiss lake lodge..... Highly recommend staying there ........ We fished little river in the main channel and in the very back shallow water of it ....... Fished main lake / channel in front of the public ramp near Weiss lake mart...... Fish was FULL of eggs ...... You may time the spawn right if u go........ 32nd heads in the shallows ....... 16th or 2 x 16s in the channels ..... Bobby garland baby shad, .9 mph in the deep 1.5 mph in the shallows ....... Monkey milk / black green / pink green all good.
That's a crazy lake down there. I've never seen so many people long lining on one lake in my life.
It's a great lake to start the season on.
Thanks for the info.no rooms but bay spring has rooms is that close to where you guys was.
I've never stayed there , but it's in the general area of the lodge ...... To be honest , most of the good areas are pretty close to one another...... 20 mins give or take will get you about any where you want to be on the lake...... You won't be to far out of the way ....... I've never stayed there but JR's maybe worth a look, it's right in little river , again though can speak for what the rooms are like...... We've had great experiences at Weiss lake lodge so we've never looked into any where else...... I will say this BE CAREFUL on that lake ..... It's easy to run aground in the shallows.... Every year we see it happen..... Saw a bass boat a few years ago go from about 60mph to 0 in a matter of about 50 feet..... Just be cautious and you'll be ok
The crowds have grown past several years...... I love it down there , but we may look into else where for next year......chickamunga ..... Watts bar ..... Gunnersville......Logan Martin..... All are a thought...... About time for me to start heading to Erie ...... Right around the corner ...... Eries my fav by ALOT
JR's is a great spot with some good guys willing to help you find fish
