Ha !! Yep ... sure makes ya appreciate a trolling motor !! I spent the first 10yrs of my fishing sitting on the bow of a flat bottom wooden row boat, sculling paddle in hand. I WAS the trolling motor

Grew up in the wooden johnboats. Thought we got a major upgrade switching to aluminum, but still used the sculling paddle & oars.

Wooden boats. My Grandpa had to sink the boat one spring, after it had been out of water over a long winter. Seems he had to make the wood swell to prevent leaks, if I remember correctly what he told me.

I still have a couple of the French models in my old reel collection. They still run flawlessly. Gonna always love the sound they make.

Don't know as I've ever seen a Super 10 Wizard, but here's the first outboard my Grandpa had :

And here's the "marina" where we rented the row boats ($2/day I think) :

The only outboard motor I ever remember my Grandpa having/using was a 10HP Johnson (that weighed a ton ) and it would scoot that row boat & the three of us around pretty good !!

The super 10 was direct drive ,no transmission. Lot of guys got threw out of boats standing up cranking them.
